15 Reasons Why Should You Buy a Tesla
If you're looking for an answer to your question, “Why should I buy a Tesla?” you've come to the right place. I have curated the top 15 reasons to help with your decision.
Tesla has changed how we think about cars, and they are quickly becoming one of the most popular car brands in the world.
When it comes to electric vehicles, there are a lot of options on the market. But if you're looking for a car with a sleek, futuristic design, innovative tech and truly unique driving experience that's also environment-friendly, stylish, fun and high-performance, Tesla is a great choice.
Whatever your reason for getting a Tesla, here I have curated for you 15 reasons why you should buy a Tesla!
Why Should You Buy a Tesla: 15 Reasons
Here are the top 15 reasons to buy a Tesla:
1. Teslas Are All Electric
One of the main reasons to get a Tesla is that they are all-electric (Battery Electric Vehicles); Teslas don't use gas. That means no trips to the gas station and no more emissions from your vehicle.
Teslas don't have engines which means there are no moving parts that can break down. That means less maintenance and fewer trips to the mechanic.
Instead, Tesla EVs are powered by huge battery packs and electric motors. Electric cars are better for the environment compared to traditional gas-powered cars.
2. Better For The Environment
You'd agree that addressing environmental issues is more critical than ever. And when it comes to saving the planet, electric vehicles are the way of the future.
Tesla is leading the charge in this area, and its cars offer many advantages over traditional gasoline-powered vehicles.
How? For one, they produce zero emissions, which means they’re much better for the environment. They’re also very efficient, thanks to Tesla’s unique battery technology.
The regenerative braking system on Tesla vehicles recaptures energy that would otherwise be wasted and helps extend the car's range.
So a Tesla is an excellent option if you’re looking for a vehicle that’s good for the environment and your wallet.
3. Rapid Supercharging Network
If I had to pick ONE reason to buy a Tesla from this list, Tesla's Supercharger network would be the one!
The Supercharging network is one of my most important reasons to buy a Tesla. Tesla's charging infrastructure consists of high-speed charging stations spread out across the country, making long-distance travel a breeze.
With over 36,000 Superchargers in about 4,000 locations worldwide (source: Tesla quarterly update 2022 Q2), Tesla has the largest fast-charging network of any electric vehicle manufacturer.
In addition, the Supercharging network is constantly expanding, so you can be confident that you'll always be able to find a charge when you need it.
This means Tesla owners will always have a place to charge their vehicles, whether on a long road trip or just running errands around town.
Plus, Tesla's Superchargers are much faster than other types of public chargers, meaning that owners can get back on the road quickly after refuelling making them great for long-distance travel. That brings me to the next point.
4. Tesla is Perfect for Long Distance Travel
In the last 12 months, our Tesla Model 3 LR has done three trips to Scotland, averaging 1200-1300 miles each. Most of the charging was done using Superchargers – no range anxiety, no fuss.
So if you believe you cannot make long-distance road trips in an EV, think again!
Electric vehicles have come a long way in the last few years, and Tesla has been at the forefront of this revolution.
If you're looking for an electric car that's perfect for long-distance travel, then a Tesla should be at the top of your list. Here are just a few reasons why:
- First, Teslas have a highly efficient electric motor delivering an impressive range.
- Second, Teslas can recharge quickly. At the new v3 Supercharger stations, Teslas can charge at speeds of 1000+ miles/hour. Even the v2 chargers reach 500-600 miles/hour speeds. No other EV manufacturer has this infra in place today.
- Third, Teslas come with all the latest tech features, making your long road trip more comfortable and connected than ever. The inbuilt trip planner even helps you find the best route to your destination, considering charging stops.
Check out the below video where Richard Symons of RSEV travelled 874 miles from John O' Groats to Lands End in his Tesla Model S LR (2019).
5. Tesla Cars Are Stylish and Futuristic
Tesla cars are stylish and futuristic with a sleek design that will turn heads. Tesla has some of the most talented designers working on their team, which shows in their vehicles. They manage to combine cutting-edge technology with sleek, elegant lines to create a truly unique look.
And because they're always at the forefront of innovation, buying a Tesla means you'll always have the latest and greatest features.
6. Cutting Edge Technology
As any car enthusiast knows, Tesla is a company at the forefront of automotive technology. As a result, Teslas come packed with cutting-edge features that set them apart from the competition.
For instance, Basic Autopilot comes standard on all Tesla cars and enables your car to steer, accelerate and brake automatically for other vehicles and pedestrians within its lane (adaptive cruise control). It also includes advanced safety and convenience features like Sentry mode, emergency braking, collision warning and blind-spot monitoring.
You can upgrade your package to Enhanced Autopilot or Full Self Driving for added features like Navigate on Autopilot, Auto Lane Change, Autopark, and Summon.
In addition, every Tesla comes with a large touch screen that controls everything from the navigation system to the climate control. And with regular over-the-air updates, Teslas get better over time.
Because Tesla is constantly innovating, you can be sure that their cars will only get better with time.
When I placed my order in 2019, features like dashcam recording, Sentry Mode live view from mobile, Joe Mode, and Car Wash Mode didn't exist; they all arrived as enhancements using free OTA software updates.
7. Tesla Saves You Money on Gasoline
There are many reasons to buy a Tesla, but one of the most compelling is that it can save you money on gasoline. Tesla cars are all-electric, meaning Teslas don't rely on gasoline to power them.
This alone can save you a significant amount of money over time, especially if you're someone who drives a lot. Even if gas prices stay the same, you'll still save money because you won't be buying gas at all. And if gas prices go up (given the situation now and as they often do), your savings will be even more significant.
A study by Consumer Reports shows that fuel savings alone over the first seven years of owning an EV can be $4,700 or more.
Quoting another example from the study, buying a Tesla Model 3 costs less than a BMW 330i and only a little more than the Audi A4 (both gas-powered), but the savings on operating costs of a Model 3 are close to $17,000.
A typical EV owner in the USA (doing most of their charging at home) saves about $800-$1,000 a year on fuel costs, and maintenance is a fraction of what it costs for a traditional gasoline-powered car. If you're interested, you can access the full report here.
In the UK, with the rising electricity costs, the difference may not be as huge now, but because petrol and diesel prices are also at their peak levels, the difference in fuel costs is too significant to ignore.
8. Teslas are Low Maintenance Vehicles
In addition to saving money on gasoline, owning a Tesla can also help you save on maintenance and repairs.
Electric vehicles, in general, are much cheaper to operate and maintain than gas-powered cars. In addition, EVs don't have parts that need to be regularly serviced or replaced on gasoline-powered vehicles, so you'll likely experience fewer repair bills over time.
And when something needs fixing, electric cars are significantly cheaper to repair than their gas-powered counterparts over the vehicle's life.
According to the CR study (mentioned above), the average dollar savings over the lifetime of owning an EV are about $4,600 compared to an ICE vehicle that runs on traditional fuels.
9. High Performance
Tesla's unique electric motor technology gives their cars impressive acceleration, power, handling and range.
The Model S, for example, can go from 0-60 mph in just over three seconds and comes with 405 miles of range. The Model S Plaid does 0-60mph in under 1.99 seconds, making it the fastest car in production.
And the upcoming new Roadster can do 0-60mph in under two seconds.
For the Model 3, the new Long Range variant comes with 374 miles of range (WLTP) and does 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds.
In addition, Teslas have excellent handling thanks to their low centre of gravity (the battery pack is located underneath the floor).
So, if you're looking for a high-performance car that doesn't sacrifice range, Tesla should be on your radar.
10. Tesla is a Great Investment
When it comes to choosing a new car, there are a lot of factors to consider. But if you're looking for an investment that will pay off in the long run, Tesla is the way to go. Here's why:
Tesla cars hold their value exceptionally well. For example, according to iSeeCars.com, Tesla Model 3 depreciates only 10.2% of its original value after three years of ownership. The BMW i3 depreciates by 60.4% and Hyundai Ioniq Electric by 47.7%.
On the contrary, there's evidence to suggest that Tesla cars appreciate over time.
Even after years of ownership, for example, Tesla Model 3 owners are selling their old cars for more than they paid initially (source).
Now, this could be for a few reasons: increased demand (linked to rising fuel prices), chip/supplier shortages, an increase in the price of new cars by Tesla, or just because Tesla cars are just that good and, therefore, there aren't enough used cars that existing owners are selling.
Whatever the reason, it's clear that Tesla cars are a wise investment. Not only will you save money on fuel and maintenance costs, but looking at these reports, you will also likely make money in the long run.
If you're looking for a car that will hold its value (and potentially appreciate) over time, Tesla is a great option.
So not only will you save money on fuel and maintenance, but there are chances you'll also make money when it comes time to sell your Tesla.
11. You'll Save Money in the Long Run
Tesla vehicles are well-known for their high price tags. However, many people don't realise that although Tesla cars may have a higher upfront cost than other cars, owning a Tesla can save you money in the long run.
One of the reasons for this is that Tesla cars have much lower maintenance and repair costs than traditional gasoline cars. For example, Tesla cars have electric motors, requiring no expensive tune-ups or oil changes.
In addition, Teslas also have far fewer moving parts than gasoline cars, meaning there are fewer opportunities for something to break down. As a result, owning a Tesla can save you significant money over the car's life.

12. Many Different Tesla Models to Choose From!
Tesla has a wide range of cars to suit every need and budget.
The Tesla Model S is their flagship sedan, starting at $104,990. The Model X is an SUV starting at $120,990.
And the new Model Y is a crossover SUV starting at $65,990 (£57,990).
If you're looking for a more affordable option, the Tesla Model 3 starts at $46,990 (£48,490 in the UK).
So there are many options to choose from depending on your budget and needs.
13. Tesla Cars Are Safe
According to Tesla Vehicle Safety Report, Tesla vehicles are designed to be the safest cars in the world. In fact, Model S, X and Model 3 achieved the lowest probability of injury of any car ever tested by NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, US).
In the UK, the Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) awarded a 5-star safety rating overall and in every category for Model S, X and 3 in their safety tests.
Active safety features like Lane Departure Avoidance, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning and Blind Spot Collision Warning come standard on all Tesla cars.
In addition, all Tesla cars have a steel safety cage that protects passengers in the event of a collision.
14. Teslas Are Fun
I mean, which other car manufacturer do you know that includes fart mode as an option in their cars? Easter eggs? Games?
In case you didn't know, Easter Eggs are hidden features as a fun surprise. Tesla cars are known for their Easter Eggs, and there are many different ones to discover.
In all seriousness, though, Tesla cars are fun to drive. And not just that, but Tesla cars are also some of the quickest and most powerful vehicles on the road. They have excellent acceleration and handling.
And with all the latest tech features, they're continually improving and adding new ways to have fun behind the wheel.
15. Many Premium Features Come as Standard on Teslas
Finally, with Teslas, many premium features, such as dashcam cameras, assisted parking, and over-the-air software updates, come standard.
Except for the M3 SR+, Teslas also have rear-heated seats and a premium sound system.
Other leading manufacturers charge separately for these as an added upgrade.
When you factor in everything that Tesla offers, it's no wonder why Tesla cars are rapidly becoming the most popular choice for EV buyers.
Final Thoughts – Why Should You Buy a Tesla
There are many reasons for buying a Tesla, but these are some pointers that will come in handy to help you make your decision.
Buying a Tesla is an investment in the future. Not only are Tesla cars environmentally friendly, but they're also incredibly efficient. With a Tesla, you can choose from various models to find the perfect fit for your needs.
Plus, with regular software updates and improvements, you can be confident that your Tesla will always be of cutting-edge technology. With great range, plenty of technology, and zero emissions, a Tesla can make driving better than ever.
For all these reasons, Tesla cars offer a unique driving experience worth the price tag.
So if you're thinking about switching to an electric car, I highly recommend considering a Tesla.
I speak from my three years of experience owning a Model 3 in the UK. I was an early adopter when Model 3s had just started delivering. Car deliveries, and customer service, weren't the best at the time, and my M3 had quite a few issues with the bodywork (I will do a detailed post separately on this someday).
From what I learned later, it had worsened at the time because of the downsizing and closing of service centres.
Overall, I love my Tesla and feel privileged to own one, albeit the ordeal I went through at the time.
Moreover, based on recent deliveries, as I learned from new owners, bodywork and panel gaps on new M3s and MYs are now a thing of the past.
