Why is my displayed range decreasing faster than the actual distance driven?

The driving range displayed on your Tesla is based on EPA rating (WLTP) and is the range calculated for most ideal conditions. It doesn't take into account your driving habits or external conditions like weather, aerodynamic drag etc. Hence this WLTP calculated range seems to deplete faster than the actual miles covered. My Tesla makes noises when charging - is that normal?

The actual range of an electric car on a single charge depends on the battery capacity. Tesla vehicles have battery capacity ranging from 54 kWh for Model 3 Standard Range Plus (with 263 miles estimated range) to 100kWh for Model S Long Range Plus (with 402 miles estimated range).
